Free Delaware DMV Test Simulator 2026
This DMV Test Simulator is modeled on the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) written knowledge exam, whose length the agency does not publish; to pass you need 80% correct. It is a mock test: 30 questions (the DMV does not publish the real test length) scored to the 80% pass mark. Answers are marked only when you submit the whole test, then you review every question with its explanation. Every question includes an explanation, so you learn the rule behind each answer - not just whether you got it right.
Delaware DMV mock test
Answer all 30 questions first. Nothing is marked until you submit the whole test, so the score shows how ready you are, and then you review every answer with its explanation.
- 30 questions (our test length; the official count is not published)
- To pass: 80% correct
- Skip, go back and change answers until you submit
- Unanswered questions count as wrong
Time: We found no published time limit for the Delaware knowledge test.
What's on the Delaware DMV Test Simulator
You need at least 80% correct. The DMV does not publish the number of questions on the test, so the number you can miss depends on the test you get - on our 30-question simulator that is 6. The simulator draws a fresh set from all 198 Delaware permit questions each time, so no two attempts are the same.
Topics in this test's question pool

198 questions in the pool, 38 of them written specifically for Delaware. Each attempt shows 30 in a new order.
Sample questions from this test, with answers
Want to test yourself first? Take the test above before reading these. Every answer below is checked against the source shown.
1. A crash on a Delaware public highway injures no one. You must report it to police if property damage appears to be at least:
- A. $500 (correct)
- B. $250
- C. $1,000
- D. $1,500
Why: Report any crash with injury or death, and any public-highway crash with apparent property damage of $500 or more. The $1,000 level applies only when a driver seems impaired.

2. Unless a sign says otherwise, Delaware bans parking within how many feet of a stop sign or traffic signal?
- A. 15 feet
- B. 30 feet (correct)
- C. 20 feet
- D. 50 feet
Why: In Delaware you may not park within 30 feet of a stop sign, a traffic signal, or a flashing beacon, unless posted otherwise.

3. When parking uphill with a curb, which direction do you turn your front wheels?
- A. Toward the curb (right)
- B. Away from the curb (left) (correct)
- C. Straight ahead, parallel to the curb
- D. Either way, if the parking brake is set
Why: When parking uphill with a curb, turn your wheels away from the curb (left). If the car rolls backward, it hits the curb and stops. Downhill: turn toward the curb.
4. Your gas pedal is stuck and you switch off the engine to slow the car. What should you expect?
- A. The brakes will stop working completely
- B. Steering and braking will take more effort (correct)
- C. The car will speed up for a few seconds
- D. The car will come to a stop almost at once
Why: With the engine off you lose power steering and power brake assist, so the wheel and pedal feel much heavier. They still work - push harder and steer to a safe stop.
5. Which of these will sober up a person who has been drinking?
- A. Drinking strong coffee
- B. Eating a big meal
- C. Taking a cold shower
- D. Only time (correct)
Why: Only time removes alcohol from the body. Coffee, food and a cold shower do not lower blood alcohol, so the person is still impaired.
6. A flashing yellow arrow on a traffic signal means:
- A. Wait - the arrow is about to turn red
- B. Turn after yielding to traffic and pedestrians (correct)
- C. Turn freely - oncoming traffic is stopped
- D. Stop fully, then turn ahead of the oncoming cars
Why: A flashing yellow arrow means you may turn in that direction after yielding to oncoming traffic and pedestrians. It is an unprotected turn - proceed only when safe.
